Coming from Egypt, my volunteering journey in Romania was more than just a trip abroad. it was a turning point in my life. It was the first time I truly experienced what it means to step into a new culture, to work with people from across Europe, and to find my place in a diverse community.
Some of the most touching moments were with the children and teenagers we worked with. When a child told me they missed us, or asked about one of our volunteers, my heart was full. Icould feel that we were leaving a real mark on their lives. And when teenagers we met on the streets welcomed us so warmly, I realized we had built bonds that went beyond a project; we had made a difference.
I also grew a lot myself. The workshops strengthened my communication and presentation skills, but even more importantly, volunteering with disabled people, orphans, and teenagers taught me resilience, empathy, and the true value of giving.
Every memory from Romania is unforgettable. I feel lucky I had this chance, and I encourage every young person—especially those coming from places like mine to take the leap. Volunteering abroad doesn’t just change the people you help; it changes you in ways that will stay with you forever.
